Developmental Milestones - The First Eighteen Months

Baby's first smile, first steps, and first words are exciting events that are certainly worth recording! The following is a chart which, when printed, can serve as a record of your baby's development. Put a tick below the appropriate month, then fill in the date when your child first displays each new skill.

The shaded areas on this chart represent the approximate time you can expect your child to develop these skills. But it's important to remember that babies are unique individuals who can develop at quite different rates, and still be healthy and normal. Also remember that no development is as important as your baby's sense of being loved and accepted for who he or she is. Should you have any questions or concerns about your child's growth or development, consult your pediatrician.
