SHOES FOR BABY?:

Question: Do babies need to wear shoes and if so, are there any special types?

DR.PAUL:

Parents often worry that they need to buy special shoes for their infants or toddlers. Actually, babies do not need footwear to start walking. The only reason we put shoes on children is to protect their feet and avoid slipping. Children who grow up without shoes learn to walk just as well as children who wear shoes. So there is no need for getting special so-called orthopedic shoes, as long as the shoe provides good support and protects the baby’s feet.
