Addison’s Disease

Question: Could you explain Addison’s Disease please.

DR.PAUL: Addison’s disease is a very rare condition in children..for that matter even in adults..the problem specifically is Adrenal Insufficiency…and in children the cause is mostly unknown or idiopathic…the adrenal glands make substances like steroids and other hormones that are vital to live…so when the adrenal glands do not work..the end result as you can imagine can be very dangerous.. there is really no specific treatment…except to replace the hormones made by the adrenal glands..by oral medications and of course close monitoring… again this is extremely rare in children.
