Question: Is there a relationship between stress and asthma in children?.
DR.PAUL: There is no question there is a relationship, and in general the older the child the more related. Older pre-school and school aged children certainly can have stress or emotions trigger or worsen asthma. Others may use their asthma symptoms as a cry for help or for getting attention. So bottom line, in addition to the usual triggers like a cold, excercise, allergies, stress can be an asthma trigger too.
