EARLY PUBERTY IN BOYS?:

Question: My son is 10 year old and already showing signs of maturing physically. He is bigger than most kids and is growing fast.  Is it usual for kids to become prepubescent so young?

DR.PAUL: The majority of boys (98%) enter puberty between 9 and 14 years of age, so your son seems to be within that normal range. As with other traits, sexual development is an individual thing. Some start earlier than others and in some cases, this is a pattern seen in different generations. If your child is otherwise well and is being followed routinely by your doctor it sounds like this is normal.
